Approve Letter of Support in regard to Anoka County's Grant Applications for the Federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Discretionary Grant

Purpose:  The purpose of this item is to gain Council approval to send a letter in support of Anoka County requesting two separate TIGER grants for the TH 10 Corridor.

Background:  Staff received communication from Doug Fischer, Transportation Division Manager/County Engineer.  His email states that Anoka County is soliciting two separate federal TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) grants on the TH 10 Corridor.  The first grant will be a capital request for construction funds to complete the TH 10/Armstrong Boulevard Interchange.  The second grant will be for planning funds to take the new concept plan for the Thurston and Fairoak intersections and develop them through the preliminary engineering and environmental document stages.  A letter of support for Anoka County to solicit these federal grants is attached for Council review and approval.
