Title
Purpose/Background:
PURPOSE
The purpose of this case is to formally authorize a contract for professional services with BKV Group to Provide Architectural Services for the new Fire Station #2.
STAFF NOTES:
This case was included in tonight's City Council Workession Agenda. For a detailed background, outline of Fire Station #2 development process, information on funding, etc., please refer to the City Council Worksession case.
NOTE: the attached contract calls for the following services:
1. Final Design and Specifications
2. Bidding and Bid Award
3. Construction Administration
The next step in the development process for a new Fire Station #2 is Final Design & Specifications. If the Council decides not to move forward with steps two and three (identified above) at some point in the future, the City is not contractually obligated to conduct said work. The attached contract calls for payment of services based on percent of completion (i.e. actual work provided). Steps two and three will require additional Council direction and authorization, at a later date.
The contract being considered tonight with BKV Group is called a AIA Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Architect. Staff is seeking Council approval of said contract contingent upon review and changes from the City Attorney.

Funding Source:
Council is considering authorization of Final Design & Specifications ($51,000) along with Construction Documents ($77,000) for a total cost of $128,000. Funding Source: Facilities Fund ($182,993 projected balance at year end).
Recommendation:
Authorize a contract for professional architectural services with BKV Group for Fire Station 2; contingent upon review and amendments from the City Attorney.
