Title:
Discuss 2015 Legislative Platform
Purpose/Background:
Purpose:
Review and amend the attached draft 2015 City of Ramsey Legislative Platform.
Background:
Annually, the City of Ramsey drafts and adopts a Legislative Platform. This document includes a list of Legislative priorities specifically related to the City of Ramsey. Upon adoption by the City Council, Ramsey's Legislative Platform will be forwarded to our County, State and Federal elected officials. Additionally, this document will be used internally by Staff as a supplemental workplan for 2014.
In 2014, the Council updated the format/layout of the City's Legislative Platform. A similar format/layout is being proposed for the City's 2015 Legislative Platform.
Next Steps:
With discussion tonight, Staff will bring forward a final Legislative Platform for formal adoption on January 13, 2015. Additionally, Staff will set up a "legislative update" meeting with our Legislators for January/February. The adopted Legislative Platform will help guide that discussion.
