Approve Second Amendment to the Agreement for Transit Service Expansion Plan with Metropolitan Council

APurpose:  To approve the second amendment to the Agreement for Transit Service Expansion Plan with Metropolitan Council.

Background:  In March 2012, the City approved and entered into an agreement between the Metropolitan Council and the City of Ramsey with regard to a Transit Service Expansion Plan.  In June 2013, the City and the Metropolitan Council approved Amendment One to the Agreement.  City staff requested, and the Metropolitan Council agreed, to a second amendment to the Agreement for Transit Service Expansion that would require the Metropolitan Council (i.e., "the Council"), to add maintenance of the "turf and landscaped areas" of the Northstar Station as part of their responsibility.  The Original Agreement, Amendment One and the newly requested Amendment Two are all attached for Council information and review.

The amendment as proposed would require the Metropolitan Council (i.e., "the Council"), to add maintenance of the "turf and landscaped areas" of the Northstar Station as part of their responsibility.  This is a benefit to the City as it relieves us of the cost of this maintenance item.

Staff is recommending Council approve Amendment Number Two to the Contract for Services relating to the Transit Service Expansion Plan and authorize the Mayor to sign same.
