Adopt Resolution #15-05-131 Proclaiming June 6, 2015 as American Cancer Society Bark For Life Day in the City of Ramsey
Purpose/Background:
Purpose: The purpose of this Consent Item is to formally adopt a resolution proclaiming American Cancer Society Bark For Life Day in the City of Ramsey.
Background: Mayor Strommen was approached by Ramsey resident Kim Gust, Chair of the Bark For Life fund raising event, to request the City Council proclaim Saturday, June 6, 2015, as Bark For Life Day in the City of Ramsey. Ms. Gust is heading up the fourth annual Bark For Life, which is held at The Draw Park. The Bark For Life is an American Cancer Society fund raising event that honors the care-giving qualities of canine companions and supports the American Cancer Society mission of saving lives and creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays - by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures for cancer and by fighting back. The money raised during Bark For Life supports the American Cancer Society's life-saving mission. The last three events held at The Draw have collectively raised over $25,000 for cancer research. The event is a non-competitive walking event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer.
During the Presentation portion of tonight's agenda, Mayor Strommen will be presenting the proclamation to Kim Gust.
