Adopt Resolution # 16-04-072 Accepting Bids and Awarding Contract for 2016 Inflow and Infiltration Project # 16-65
Purpose/Background:
Purpose:
The purpose of this case is to accept bids and award a contract for the 2016 Inflow and Infiltration Project # 16-65
Background:
The city’s I/I reduction program for 2016 will consist of replacing chimney seals and adjustment rings on 37 manholes in our system. These manholes have been inspected and found to allow infiltration of ground water into our sanitary sewer system. We will also be rehabilitating one manhole that is showing signs of deterioration do to corrosive gases. This manhole will be relined with a protective coating to correct/repair the existing corrosion.
Bids were opened on April 5th. A total of 5 bids were received and were checked for errors and omissions. No adjustments were required. The bids received were competitive and favorable. A tabulation of the 5 bids received is below.
For reference the engineer's estimate for the project was $77,040.00
Upon acceptance of bids and award of a contract, staff will obtain a project schedule from the contractor for posting on the City web site and conveying to adjacent property owners via U.S. mail.
All work must be completed on or before July 29th 2016.

Advertisements for bids were published in the Anoka Union Herald and in Finance and Commerce on March 11th and March 18th
Observations/Alternatives:
The manholes identified for receiving improvements for I/I reduction were selected by City staff based on criteria including, physical inspection, previous maintenance history, project scope, and other less tangible criteria.

Funding Source:
Funding for the I/I reduction project will include $25,250.00 from the 2014 State Bond Fund Municipal I/I Program, with the remaining $46,926.00 coming from the Sanitary Sewer Utility Fund.
