Adopt Resolution #2016-11-214 to Hire a Temporary Fall Seasonal Employee and Temporary On-call Snow Plow Drivers

The purpose of this case is to seek City Council approval to hire a temporary fall seasonal employee and temporary on-call snow plow drivers for the Public Works Department.  Annually the City employs Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Workers to work during the summer and fall months in the Parks, Streets, and Utilities Divisions of Public Works.  Additionally, each fall the City hires temporary on-call snow plow drivers.   The process to fill these positions includes an open competitive recruitment, interviews, background checks, pre-employment testing, City Council approval to hire and on-boarding.  As a result, staff selected a qualified entry level seasonal candidate and several on-call snow plow drivers.  All  candidates have passed the pre-employment screenings and staff recommends hiring him.  


 

 

Entry level seasonal pay:   First year seasonal employees earn $10.00 per hour. Each year that seasonal employees return they received a twenty-five cent per hour increase in pay, to a maximum of $12.00 per hour.   On-call snow plow drivers earn $13.00 per hour. 
 

The funding required to fill these positions is included in the 2016 budget. 

Staff recommends option #1 above, hiring   Claire Minor as a fall seasonal employee at $10.00 per hour, effective on or near November 1, 2016 and  the following on-call temporary snow plow drivers:   Craig Blake, Adam Gordon Keith Noreen, Luke Blanch, Tim Barrett, and Taylor Moshier all at $13.00 per hour, effective on or near November 10, 2016

 

Motion to adopt resolution #16-11-214 to hire Claire Minor as a fall seasonal employee at $10.00 per hour, effective on or near November 1, 2016 and the following on-call temporary snow plow drivers:   Craig Blake, Adam Gordon, Keith Noreen, Luke Blanch, Tim Barrett, and Taylor Moshier all at $13.00 per hour, effective on or near November 10, 2016
