Title:
Adopt Resolution #17-01-032 to a Hire a Police Records Technician
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to request the City Council to hire a full-time Police Records Technician.
As the City Council will recall, a work-session discussion took place on October 25, 2016 where the City Council agreed by consensus to move the part-time Police Technician position ahead from the 2018 staffing plan. This was requested in an attempt to retain an already trained and certified employee that desired part-time hours. In addition, the current staffing levels are well below what is needed due to increased work demands. The increased demands include the introduction of a new Public Safety Data System, an increase in the amount of data requests by our city and county attorney and State and Federal agencies have also increased reporting requirements. Ms. Jennifer Johnson interviewed for and was hired for the part-time position.
As a result of the fulltime position now being vacant, Staff conducted an internal and external recruitment, conducted first and second interviews and an extensive backgrounding process. Staff recommends the City Council hire Ms. Jamie Hedburg as the City’s new fulltime Police Records Technician.
