Title:
Adopt Resolution #17-04-096 Approving Contract for National Heritage Information System (NHIS) GIS Database
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to consider approving a contract with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for a GIS database of the National Heritage Information System. This is a database of threatened and endangered plant and animal species. This database will be helpful in the completion of the Comprehensive Plan Update, helping to prioritize areas of preservation over future development. The database will also be helpful in determining policy direction when citizens request certain environmental review. Having this database in-house will help the City proactively and much more efficiently react to these inquiries.

Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of the contract.

Motion to adopt Resolution #17-04-096 approving a contract with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the National Heritage Information System Database.
