Presentation to Recognize Girl Scout Troop 16479 with Community Spotlight Award
Purpose/Background:
- The City Council would like to recognize Girl Scout Troop 16479 with a Community Spotlight Award for their efforts towards the City’s initiative to support pollinators in our parks and their dedication towards making a difference in the Ramsey community.
- The troop first learned about the City’s initiative to help create, restore, and protect pollinator habitat in March, 2017, when they took an Art in the Park class, hosted by Ramsey Parks & Recreation, dedicated to decorating mosaic bee houses.
- Troop 16479 then installed these bee houses throughout Ramsey at Elmcrest Park, Central Park, Emerald Park and Alpine Park.
- The work these girls have done to create and install the bees houses not only supports the City’s mission to protect important pollinators like bees in our community, but also allowed them to achieve their Junior Bronze Service Award.
- The Girl Scout Bronze Service Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. This team leadership experience has encouraged the girls to develop confidence and meet new people, while completing a project that will make a lasting impact on their community.
- Congratulations and thank you for your efforts! Troop Leaders: Janis Day and Laura Voorhees, Girl Scouts: Anya Day, Megan Day, Hannah Derugs, Faith Harstad, Jordann Lewis, Marie Voorhees and Jazlyn Walsh.
