Title
Adopt Resolution #17-09-222 Hiring a Lead Police Records Technician
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to request the City Council to hire Ms. Emmah Beardsley as the City's new Lead Police Records Technician, back-filling the position vacated when Ms. Jemma Torseth was promoted to Police Department Office Supervisor.
The Lead Police Records Technician works under the direction and supervision of the Office Supervisor to lead daily activities of assigned administrative support staff and provide administrative support skills, administrative assistance, Police Department record keeping and public assistance functions.
Staff conducted a recruitment process to fill the Lead Police Records Technician vacancy. First and second round interviews were held and staff is recommending Ms. Emmah Beardsley to fill the vacancy. Ms. Beardsley has successfully passed the City's pre-employment checks, including: reference checks, background and driving record checks, and a pre-employment drug screen. Ms. Beardsley will be an AFSCME union employee subject to a six-month probationary period and will receive the same benefits as all other AFSCME employees.

Funding Source:
There is no additional funding required to hire Ms. Beardsley as there is a cost savings over the former employee in this position.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends hiring Ms. Emmah Beardsley as the Police Department's new Lead Records Technician effective on or near October 2, 2017, at step 1 of the 2017 pay scale, which is $20.93 per hour.

Motion to adopt resolution #17-09-222 hiring Ms. Emmah Beardsley as the Police Department's new Lead Records Technician effective on or near October 2, 2017, at step 1 of the 2017 pay scale which is $20.93 per hour.
