Title:

Introduce Ordinance #18-05 Rezoning of Subject Properties to E-3 Employment District

Purpose/Background:

The purpose of this case is to review the proposed rezoning of properties within the City's new industrial park. The properties proposed to be rezoned to E-3 Employment District are the same properties which were subject to the Armstrong West Comprehensive Plan Amendment which was previously approved by the City Council. That amendment is currently being considered by the Metropolitan Council.

Notification:

A public hearing is required and was held at the December 7th, 2017 Planning Commission meeting.  The appropriate notice was issued.

Observations/Alternatives:

Alternative 1: Adopt Ordinance #18-05 Rezoning of the Subject Properties to E-3 Employment District. This rezoning would conform to the land use revisions that the City Council approved with Armstrong West Comprehensive Plan Amendment. Staff supports this alternative.

Alternative 2: Do not adopt Ordinance #18-05 Rezoning the Subject Property to E-3 Employment District. Staff does not support this alternative.

Funding Source:

Costs associated with this request are the responsibility of the City.

Recommendation:

The Planning Commission recommends adoption of Ordinance #18-05 Rezoning Identified Properties to E-3 Employment District.

Action:

Motion to introduce Ordinance #18-05 Rezoning Identified Properties to E-3 Employment District.
