Consider Park and Recreation Commission Outdoor Meeting Schedule

For many years, the Park and Recreation Commission has held regular meetings outdoors in the months of May through September (weather permitting). This provided the Commission an opportunity to inspect and comment on parks and projects as a group, and it afforded residents’ access to the Commission on a neighborhood level.  On the occasions of inclement weather, the Commission would hold the regular meetings at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. The purpose of this case is to confirm the Commission’s desire for outdoor meetings in 2018 and, if so, approve the locations proposed below.

Additionally, note the proposed locations represent a geographic distribution around the city.  It is likely these meeting are also opportunities to interact with the associated neighborhoods relative to the Parks System Plan, which will be concluding in 2018.

The following is the proposed schedule—if the Commission agrees to continue meeting in parks for the summer.


May:               Emerald Pond Park, 6000 142^nd Avenue NW

June:             Elmcrest Park, 16303 Quicksilver Street NW – ½ mile south of 167th Avenue NW on Quicksilver Street

July:              Central Park, 7925 161^st Avenue NW – east of Armstrong Boulevard NW

August:          The Draw, 7401 Ramsey Parkway

September:    Pearson Park, (Riverstone Subdivision, address to be determined)

Upon approval of the locations above, their locations will be published on the web site.
