Adopt Resolution #19-033 Designating an Interim Building Official

The purpose of this case is to designate an Interim Building Official as required by Minnesota State Building Code due to a pending retirement on January 31, 2019.

Notification is not required.

The City's current Building Official, Rick Jarson, has announced his retirement effective January 31, 2019. Minnesota Statutes Section 326B.133 Subd. 7 requires that a municipality issuing Building Permit must designate a Building Official that is certified through the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. The City may not issue Building Permits if this step is not completed. If not completed, the Department of Labor and Industry may identify an employee of their organization to serve in this role.

The City has a contract with Inspectron, Inc. for Building Inspection Services. This firm has served in this role for Ramsey in the past, and does so for numerous other communities and municipalities. Mr. Ron Wasmund, owner of Inspectron, is proposed to be designated for this role until such time Mr. Jarson's replacement is hired.
