ACTION REQUESTED:
Consider recommending a new Fares Structure to Finance Committee.
BACKGROUND:
For several Insfrastructure Committee meetings, we have discussed the idea of going Fare Free. However, it has come to our attention that the Federal Government intends to deny funding to Transit Authorities that are Fare Free. Therefore, it was suggested that we consider reducing fares instead.
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION:
Based on the enclosed spreadsheet dollar figures, this will cost the City revenues of approximately $8,500 to $15,000 based on ridership. This proposal will need to go to Finance Committee for their consideration also.
LEGAL REVIEW:
No legal review is required.
BOARD AND COMMITTEE ACTION:
Consider sending the Fare Reduction Proposal for Roswell Transit to Finance Committee, June 5, 2025.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends consideration of approval and moving forward to Finance Committee Proposed Fare Structure #1.
