ACTION REQUESTED:
Ordinance 25-xx: Consider proposed Ordinance 25-XX: Amending Chapter 13 FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION (Olive)
BACKGROUND:
The current City fire code incorporates by reference the 2015 edition of the International Fire Code (IFC). The proposed amended ordinance would update the City of Rowell fire code by adopting the 2024 edition of the International Fire Code by reference, which is the most current edition available. The State of New Mexico is also preparing to move to the 2024 edition of the IFC. These proposed amendments clean up the format of the old ordinance by reformatting the order and deleting outdated amendments. Lastly, these proposed amendments seek to permit City-issued Certificates of Fitness as well as an updated fee schedule.
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION:
Minimal change with positive revenue.
LEGAL REVIEW:
The Deputy City Attorney has reviewed the proposed changes.
BOARD AND COMMITTEE ACTION:
This will be the first consideration of this item.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend sending the proposed amended ordinance to the legal committee.
