ACTION REQUESTED:
Request for approval to proceed with the burial of overhead power lines at the Air Center to enhance safety for Air Race training and event operations. (Vigil)
BACKGROUND:
Initiated by: Paul Vigil
The National Championship Air Races (NCAR) have identified the existing overhead power lines at the Air Center as a safety concern during both training and racing activities. Burial of these lines is necessary to mitigate risk and ensure a safer environment for participants and operations.

FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION:
Funding for this project will be provided through Grant No. G22-G2773. The estimated total cost for the burial of the power lines is $616,000.00, which includes boring. This estimate does not include trenching or applicable taxes.
LEGAL REVIEW:
Legal review is requested to confirm compliance.
BOARD AND COMMITTEE ACTION:
The Legal Committee on April 23, 2026 is the first to consider for initial review and recommendation.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval to proceed as presented, subject to legal review and confirmation.
