Consider recommending approval of a budget adjustment in the amount of $192,930.00 and authorization of a purchase order to Otis Elevator Company for the modernization of the City Hall elevator, including Alternate #1 for a new cab interior. (Martinez)
BACKGROUND:

The City Hall elevator is in need of modernization to improve reliability, safety, code compliance, and overall functionality. Otis Elevator Company submitted a proposal through the OMNIA Partners Purchasing Cooperative Agreement for the modernization of the existing hydraulic elevator located at City Hall. The modernization includes replacement and upgrade of major elevator components, including the control system, pump motor, power unit, door operator, emergency return unit, hall fixtures, car operating panel, emergency communication systems, and other related equipment. The base contract amount is $167,930.00. Staff recommends inclusion of Alternate #1 – New Cab Interior in the amount of $25,000.00, bringing the total project cost to $192,930.00. The new cab interior will provide a fully modernized appearance while complementing the mechanical and safety upgrades included in the project. The alternative is identified in the proposal as an additional cost of $25,000.00. Staff contacted Austin Neff of Otis Elevator Company regarding applicable taxes. Austin Neff confirmed that no tax will be charged on this project and further verified with the Otis team that the tax amount is $0.00.
