Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to solicit formal Invitation for Bids for Rio Bravo Street Improvement project pursuant to Sub-Chapter C. Competitive Bidding Method; under the Texas Government Code; §2269.101 (Contracts for Facilities: Competitive Bids) and in accordance with §2269.102 (Use of Architect or Engineer) by designating the County Engineering Department to prepare the plans, specifications, estimated construction costs, construction administration throughout the duration of the project until closeout and any other matters incident thereto. [USDA-RD Grant & Webb County and Rio Bravo local match]

Issue: Webb County proposes to improve street conditions on several roadways throughout the Rio Bravo community.  The intent of this project is to improve the overall quality and condition of existing roadways in order to enhance driver safety for the residents of Rio Bravo and the public in general.  

Solution: Authorize the Purchasing Agent to secure formal bid proposals for consideration by GRANTOR and ultimately for final approval by the Webb County Commissioners Court.  Award of a selected bidder will be contingent upon a final grant award by USDA and through a formal motion to approve said grant and its conditions for acceptance by the Webb Commissioners Court.   

Result: If approved, the Webb County Purchasing Agent will prepare a draft bid solicitation package for review by GRANTOR prior to advertising.
