Discussion and possible action to accept a grant award for the DJ-Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program from the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division in the amount of $17,776.92 for equipment, minor tools, supplies, and training/education for the Webb County Sheriff's Office Code Enforcement Unit; and authorizing the Webb County Judge to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. This grant does not require any type of match and, thus, will have no impact on the general fund. All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures. Issue: Similar to other local law enforcement agencies, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office relies on limited financial, operational, and personnel resources to address, prevent, reduce, and/or resolve various serious criminal justice issues arising from a combination of deeply entrenched, complex, and often challenging societal problems.

Solution: Grant funding will offer additional resources for equipment, small tools, and supplies to support the Webb County Sheriff’s Office.

Result: Grant funding will enable members of the Webb County Sheriff’s Office to be provided with additional resources.
