Discussion and possible action to authorize County staff to initiate road closure procedure for Bonita and Mackin Avenues between Despain and Foster Streets in Oilton Subdivision for the proposed Webb County Independent School District Plat.
 
Issue: The Webb County Independent School District is proposing a plat that incorporates a section of Bonita and Mackin Avenues. Bonita Avenue was dedicated to the public through the 1929 Oilton Subdivision Plat and is a County maintained road.  Mackin Avenue has been on the log of County maintained roads for over 30 years.  The school district has structural encroachments on both avenues that may be resolved by the proposed road closures and avoid further problems with the proposed plat.  There is no impact to the access of nearby property owners and the district owns both sides of the roads.
 
Solution: Closing the roads will allow the school district to proceed with the proposed plat and resolve encroachment issues.
