Discussion and possible action to continue paying grant-funded personnel under Webb County Court-at-Law II DWI & Juvenile Drug Courts, TX Office of the Governor Specialty Courts Program, Grant No. 5091201 and 5091601, for up to Ninety (90) days, or until notification about grant continuation award from the TX Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division, Specialty Courts Program FY 2026. All personnel costs will be reimbursed with grant funds. 

Issue: Current grant funding expires on August 31, 2025. The DWI and Juvenile Drug Courts Program have not received notice of award for the new grant. Unless this item is approved, personnel working under this said grant will not be paid after August 31, 2025.

Solution: Grant a 90-day payroll extension for personnel working under these two grants.

Result: The Webb County Court-at-Law II DWI & Juvenile Drug Courts Program in Laredo/Webb County will continue to identify and provide services for court participants.

The TX OOG awarded Webb County Court-at-Law II two grants to expand services for DWI & Juvenile Drug Courts in November 2024. Since then, Webb County Court-at-Law II has re-applied for the grant funding, but has not received notice of the awards. Currently, the DWI Court services over 50 participants and the Juvenile Drug Treatment Court services over 30 participants. 

Webb County Commissioners Court accepted and approved the grants in November 2024, then in January 2025 approved for Webb County Court-at-Law II to re-apply for TX OOG Specialty Courts FY26 grant funds.
