Discussion and possible action to authorize a budget allocation in the amount of $95,000.00 to support high school athletic team uniform orders with further action to transfer funds from Account #1001-1130-001-431007-010 (Operational Reserve) to Account #7100-6110-001-461005-015 (Merchandise COS Men’s Apparel); and any other matters incident thereto.
Issue: Schools place orders in August and this is usually when we run short either due to growth in sales or an abundance of orders from schools coming in. Currently, Webb County provides uniforms to high school athletic programs across the region, serving schools from Eagle Pass to Corpus Christi, Texas. Due to the high volume of team orders this year, available funds have been fully expended. Without additional funding, the County will be unable to continue supplying uniforms and related items to schools in need.
Solution: Approval is requested for a transfer of $95,000.00 from the General Fund into the designated accounts for athletic uniform purchases.
