Discussion and possible action to authorize the submission of a grant application for a FY 2026 Community Challenge Grant in the amount estimated at FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($15,000.00) as prepared, written, and submitted by the CAA grant writer in collaboration with CAA management and submitted to the AARP Livable Communities Grant Program for equipment, minor tools/apparatus, materials, and supplies for Meals on Wheels and Emergency Preparedness and designating the Webb County Judge as the authorized official to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. This grant requires no match; and, thus will have no impact to the general fund. All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures.  [Requested by Guillermo Walls, CAA Director]

Issue: There is often a need for additional services/expanded capacity to serve the residents of Webb County, including for emergency preparedness endeavors. 

Solution: Proposed supplemental grant application will allow expanded capacity for the Community Action Agency to better serve the low-to-moderate income older residents of Webb County, Texas.

Result: Community Action Agency (CAA) will be able to provide additional services for these older residents.
