Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to secure competitive bids for the purchase and installation of one (1) Generac 400kw Industrial Size Generator for the Webb County Juvenile Department to include but not limited to the removal and disposal of existing generator, new automatic transfer switch (ATS) installation, startup and commission of new generator in an amount not to exceed $175,000.00 pursuant to the Texas Local Government Code; Sections 271.101, 271.102, Sub-Chapter F. cooperative Purchasing Programs and to further authorize the transfer of funds from the General Operating Fund – Capital Outlay Account 1001-1130-001-470000 to the Juvenile Department’s Capital Outlay account 1001-2450-001-470000 and any other matters incident thereto. [Account #1001-2450-001-470000 (General Fund-Juvenile Probation-Administration-Capital Outlay)]
 
Issue: The current backup generator is no longer operable.   The existing generator is original equipment installed when the building was constructed approximately 15 years ago. 
 
Solution: Consideration to authorize the Purchasing Agent to secure competitive bids for the installation of a new Generac generator to include removal of existing and disposal, plus installation of a new ATS, plus startup and commission.  And to further consider the transfer of funds as requested. 
 
Result: If approved, competitive pricing will be secured and estimated lead times for delivery and installation are approximately 16–19 weeks from order.
