Discussion and possible action to authorize the acceptance of a grant award for supplemental meal delivery services to elderly and/or disabled homebound residents of Webb County in the amount of THIRTY THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED NINETY-THREE DOLLARS AND TWENTY-EIGHT CENTS ($30,293.28)  from the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Texans Feeding Texans: Home-Delivered Meals (HDM) Grant Program as prepared, written, and submitted by the CAA grant writer in collaboration with the Meals on Wheel Program Manager and CAA management for Meals on Wheels Program costs, including food costs, small equipment expenses, transportation costs, office supplies, advertising expenses, new serving supplies, and new durable cookware; and designating the Webb County Judge as the authorized official to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. There will be no additional County Match needed. All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures.  [Requested by Guillermo Walls, CAA Director]

Issue: There is a need for additional services/expanded capacity to serve more impoverished elderly and/or disabled residents of Webb County through the Meals on Wheels Program.

Solution: Supplemental grant award will allow expanded capacity for additional home deliveries of hot, nutritious meals to elderly and/or disabled residents of Webb County, Texas.

Result:  With this grant award, CAA’s Meals on Wheels Program will be able to provide additional services.
