Discussion and possible action to authorize payment of invoice presented by the United Independent School District (“UISD”) pertaining to services provided by their Attendance Officers for scholastic school year 2024-2025 (September through August) who serve as “Juvenile Court Coordinators” involving truancy cases for the Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, Place 1 and Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 in the amount of Forty-Three Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety-Eight Dollars ($43,998.00), and any matters incident thereto. Issue: Webb County Justices of the Peace Courts provide truancy court for juveniles referred to their Courts by school districts for violation of compulsory state attendance laws.  The Justices of the Peace require the presence of school district Attendance Officers in order to enforce these school compulsory attendance laws.  These Attendance Officers, who assist the Justices of the Peace in providing court coordination of the truancy court docket, require their services be compensated. 
 
Solution: UISD and Webb County each pay ½ the salaries of Attendance Officers acting as Justice Court Coordinators overseeing the truancy court docket.

Webb County has been paying half the salaries to UISD Attendance Officers providing court coordination services in the Justice Courts.
