Discussion and possible action to approve a Resolution for approval to submit a grant application to the Office of the Governor for federal funds authorized under 34 U.S.C. §60702 Project Safe Neighborhoods Block Grant Program estimated at $49,993.25 over the term of the contract. This formal request shall authorize the County Judge to act as the County's Executive Officer and Authorized Representative in all matters pertaining to the County's participation in this grant. All grant documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures. Issue: Our community continues to face persistent crime challenges. This initiative seeks to create and sustain safer neighborhoods through a measurable reduction in violent crime by targeting criminal gangs and the illegal possession, trafficking, and use of firearms, while strengthening coordinated law enforcement efforts and community-based crime prevention strategies.

Solution: Approve a Resolution authorizing the submission of the PSN Block Grant application in the estimated amount of $49,993.25 and authorizing the County Judge to act on behalf of the County in all matters pertaining to participation in the grant

Result: Approval will allow Webb County to timely submit a compliant grant application, secure potential federal funding to support public safety initiatives, and ensure proper authorization and administrative oversight throughout the grant term. This item has no financial impact on the county.
