Issue: A Head Start Preschool program modular building located at 3501 Eagle Pass Avenue, Laredo, Texas, on leased property, has been reviewed and determined to have no federal interest or restrictions. The building is no longer needed for program operations, and retaining an unused structure on leased property may result in unnecessary costs and administrative obligations.

Solution: Declare the modular building located at 33501 Eagle Pass Avenue, Laredo, Texas, as surplus property and authorize the County Purchasing Agent to sell the building through public auction in accordance with applicable county policies, procedures, and state statutes.

Result: The Head Start Preschool program will remove an unneeded asset from its inventory, eliminate ongoing obligations associated with maintaining a structure on leased property, ensure compliance with applicable disposal requirements, and potentially generate revenue through the public sale of the building.

The modular building was previously used as a Head Start classroom, office space, and storage. The classroom has been relocated.
