Discuss, consider and take appropriate action to revise the current County Fleet Committee members.
Background
Currently the Fleet Committee is comprised of the following:
We are requesting the committee be revised to reflect the following participants: Auditor’s Office, Budget Office, Constable Office Pct 1, Constable Office Pct 2, Constable Office Pct 3, Constable Office Pct 4, Emergency Services Department, Fleet, HR, Infrastructure, Purchasing, Sheriff’s Office. Each office will have one voting member with the exception of the Auditor’s Office, who will be a non-voting member of the committee. This committee will be chaired by the Budget Office. The primary responsibilities of this committee will include but not be limited to the following:
The Fleet Committee is scheduled to meet quarterly or as needed
- One Commissioner’s Court Member (currently Commissioner Madsen)
- Fleet Director
- HR Representative
- Senior Director of Infrastructure
- Purchasing Agent
- Budget Officer
We are requesting the committee be revised to reflect the following participants: Auditor’s Office, Budget Office, Constable Office Pct 1, Constable Office Pct 2, Constable Office Pct 3, Constable Office Pct 4, Emergency Services Department, Fleet, HR, Infrastructure, Purchasing, Sheriff’s Office. The primary responsibilities of this committee will include but not be limited to the following:
- Review reports on fleet activity to include accident review
- Research areas for reduction in fuel usage
- Reduce and control fleet size
- Use fleet database to project vehicle and equipment replacement in conjunction with budget recommendations
- Work with Purchasing to identify suitable vendors for purchasing vehicles and vehicle equipment;
- Review all available avenues for selling retired/surplus vehicles and equipment such as trades, auctions, internet sales, etc.
- Establish Fleet Policy
- Review and adjust vehicle and equipment life cycles to obtain optimum dollar value on our fleet
- Risk Management
The Fleet Committee is scheduled to meet quarterly or as needed
