Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on accepting and approving a report on the Regional Animal Shelter Expansion Project; Change Order # 2 in the amount of $13,688.00 to approve funding for additional glazed tile, Breezeway framing height adjustments, underground utility conflicts and subcontractor scope adjustments, which was executed by Dale Butler, Williamson County Facilities Director, pursuant to the previous grant of authority under Section 262.031 of the Local Government Code. This change order is being funded by the Construction Manager and Owner’s Contingencies.
Background
The utility conflicts were due to new and existing underground utilities which had conflicting elevations which were unknown during the design stage of the project. The glazed tile addition is to cover one area of the fire room walls that were not detailed to have glazed tile, but need to have it installed to complete the glazed tile scope inside of this area. The Breezeway roof height had to be adjusted due to unknown field conditions at the time of design.
On August 15, 2017, the Williamson County Commissioners Court granted Dale Butler, Williamson County Facilities Director, with general authority to approve change orders for the Agreement for Construction Services with Vaughn Construction in relation to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter Expansion Project for any increase in costs up to a total maximum amount of $30,000.00 in accordance with Section 262.031 of the Local Government Code – Changes in Plans and Specifications. This report is being provided for purposes of notifying the court of such change order and to place it in the minutes of the Commissioners Court.
