Discuss consider and authorize the solicitation of sponsors for the Military Order of the Purple Heart sign designating Williams County as a Purple Heart County.
Background
The Miltary Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) has given the County one sign to be placed in the County to denote the designation of Williamson County as a Purple Heart County. This was established by a vote of the Commissioners Court in an earlier meeting. I am now coming before you to request permission to solicit Sponsors for other signs to be placed at various locations to be determined around the County. Those locations are currently being discussed with Road and Bridge as to the most common locations for signage, usually at the County line, or somewhere prominant where the sign can be seen and appreciated.
The approximate cost for the sign itself is from $45.00-$50.00, depending on material cost. The Vendor for the sign is set through the MOPH due to the Copyright of the Purple Heart on the sign. The material to set and install the signage will be approximately $117.00, bringing the total to approximately $167.00 per sign.
What we are requesting from the Court is the authority to go forward with this request to the Community to sponsor additional signange.
If the County wishes to act to purchase additional signs itself, to be placed at County Expense, there will be an order going to the sign vendor for other Counties no later than Oct. 22 of this year.
