Discuss, consider and take appropriate action to allow the Sheriff's Office to accept a grant through Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, FY 2018 Local Solicitation.

Through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, FY 2018 Local Solicitation, Williamson County was eligible for an award of up to $11,890. The Sheriff's Office applied for a $3,709 grant for expenses related to the Junior Deputy Academy program. The application was approved by the U.S. Department of Justice and we have been given the opportunity to accept the remaining $8,292 for other expenses eligible under this grant.

The remaining $8,292 will be used for expenses associated with the Citizen's Academy and Explorers Program. The grant requires no resolution or match.

Staff recommends the following action: Approve the Sheriff's Office to accept the grant for $11,890 and authorize appropriate County department personnel to complete documentation relevant to the implementation of the grant.
