Agenda Item
Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on updating the Recommended Mitigation Actions (Table ES-1) in the 2017 Williamson County Multi-jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan and approval of supporting resolution.
Background
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires that all projects submitted for hazard mitigation grant funding be included in the Hazard Mitigation Plan per 44 CFR Section 201.6 (2)(C)(3)(i-iv). The 2017 Williamson County Hazard Mitigation Plan approved by the Commissioners Court on January 17, 2017 did not include the City of Liberty Hill or an early warning system as a hazard mitigation action item. The City of Liberty Hill has identified the need for an early warning system for public safety and it has been added (line 16) to the County's 2017 Hazard Mitigation Plan. The revision of the plan will allow a grant application to be submitted for the purchase and installation of the outdoor warning sirens, meeting FEMA requirements for grant funding.
