Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on exempting Armstrong Forensic Laboratory, Inc. from competitive bidding requirements as per Texas Local Government Code Discretionary Exemption 262.024.(a)(2) an item necessary to preserve or protect the public health or safety of the residents of the county and authorizing execution of the agreement.
Background
The County Attorney's Office wishes to procure laboratory testing services for marijuana/hemp testing in response to the Legislature passing laws redefining marijuana based on the percentage of THC in the product. This change in the law requires a new type of testing that previously was not required in order to establish our criminal marijuana cases. Funding source is from Trial Expenses line item 01.0100.0475.004932.
