Discuss, consider and take appropriate action regarding acceptance of donation(s) from Cleanint of its Cleanpen (a housed sponge that cleans styluses & pencils that could be used by voters at the ballot marking devices) and Cleanhands (portable, belt clip-on hand sanitizer module) products to be used by voters and poll workers during the 2020 elections in Williamson County (Pursuant to Tex. Loc. Gov’t Code § 81.032) to support public health measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Background
Cleanint made contact with the Elections Department and demonstrated to the Elections Administrator how the company's Cleanpen product could work to sanitize pens, pencils or stylus devices used at ballot marking devices at in-person polling locations. The device uses a sponge that is soaked in a solution that kills bacteria and viruses.
Cleanint has offered to donate Cleanpens and sponges to the Elections Department for use at ballot marking device to be deployed for elections in 2020. Cleanint has also offered to donate a supply of Cleanhands clip-on hand sanitizer packs for use by pollworkers at the polling location. Cleanint estimates the amount of the donation to the Elections Department to be valued at approximately $23,000.00.
The Elections Department seeks acceptance of this donation with the explicit understanding that there are no guarantees of future commitments and no official sponsorship or endorsement will be given to the Cleanint organization or the Cleanint donated products.
