Agenda Item
Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on a requirement for anyone in the public space of the Georgetown Historic Courthouse and in the Commissioners Courtroom and overflow space in the Historic District Courtroom to wear face masks covering both the mouth and nose.
Background
Scientific research and data analysis, all peer reviewed, show significant reductions in the spread of viruses through appropriate wearing of facial masks. Masks were assessed as significantly more effective than social distancing in recent study of COVID-19 virus dispersion by Texas A&M researcher, Dr. Renyi Zhang. All but one of our judicial courtrooms and court facilities in the county require wearing face masks. The administrative court and facility of the county should join them in the requirement for face mask wearing for the safety and health of all who enter.
