Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on amending the Public Services Funding Agreement with Bluebonnet Trails Community Center to increase the Extended Observation Unit beds from 12 beds to 13 beds for adults and increasing funding for one private psychiatric hospital bed for children assessed to require intensive level of care.

On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, the Commissioners Court discussed increasing the capacity of the Extended Observation Unit (EOU) from 12 beds to 13 beds for adults in need crisis stabilization and intensive mental health services.  The EOU serves only adults and children cannot be served on an adult unit.  During the court discussion, a gap in services was identified for children in need of intensive psychiatric hospital care.  The Commissioners Court unanimously approved an additional adult EOU bed, but also added a private psychiatric hospital bed for children that will be available 365 days a year. This agreement has been revised to codify the decision and direction of the Court.
