Discuss, consider, and take any appropriate action regarding the approval of changes to the previously approved early voting polling locations for the November 3, 2020 Joint General and Special Elections of Williamson County.
Background
In order to meet a statutory deadline for ordering an election, the Elections Department presented an Early Voting schedule to the Williamson County Commissioner's Court that was approved on August 11, 2020. Due to extenuating circumstances and continuing communications with host locations, it has been necessary for the Elections Department to make some adjustments to the previously approved schedule. These changes include the following:
- The Main Early Voting location has been moved from the Inner Loop Annex at 301 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown to the Georgetown Annex located at 100 Wilco Way, HR108, in Georgetown due to the space constraints at the Inner Loop Annex while construction on the remodel of the building continues through the election. Per the Texas Election Code, Limit Ballot voting must be conducted at the Main Early Voting Location. Therefore, we have notated this change on the schedule.
- Voting in Sun City will take place at The Worship Place located at 811 Sun City Boulevard in Georgetown. Other locations in Sun City were not able to confirm our use of buildings should they be closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, a location that was able to guarantee our use was selected.
- The Early Voting polling location in Hutto is being moved from Hutto City Hall located at 401 W Front Street to the Williamson County Hutto Annex located at 321 Ed Schmidt Boulevard, Suite 100, to better allow for social distancing of voting equipment and voters.
- The Early Voting location offered by Jarrell ISD is being moved from their former cafeteria at 508 N 5th Street to 108 East Avenue F following a remodel of their Administration Building.
