Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on an order declaring an emergency and a grave necessity due to unforeseeable circumstances and approve a budget amendment to acknowledge additional expenditures for the Tax Assessor Collector Office.

Pursuant to Transportation code 520, the Williamson County Tax Office must establish a Title Service Licensing Process.  The program requires the Tax Office to vet and license organizations and individuals who, for compensation, conduct motor vehicle transactions on behalf of 3rd parties. Application fees and license fees are assessed to administer the program. Since this is a new program, the estimated expenditures to perform background checks for applicants are higher than anticipated.  An additional $1,500.00 is needed to cover the expenditures through the remainder of the year.  The fees collected in this fiscal year have exceeded the funds needed to pay for the background checks.
