Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on awarding IFB #T5023 CR 200 Reconstruction to MA Smith Contracting Co Inc. and authorizing the execution of the agreement. Funding Source is P285.

The Purchasing Department solicited sealed bids for IFB T5023 CR 200 Reconstruction. Two (2) bids were received. The bids have been reviewed and the apparent low bid (MA Smith Contracting Co Inc.) was found to be responsive and materially balanced.  The lowest bidder was $6,770.53 lower than the Engineer’s Estimate, a cost savings of 0.1%. The bidding was competitive with the lowest two bidders being within 4.3% of each other. In addition to meeting the bid qualifications subject to being low bidder, MA Smith Contracting Co Inc. has successfully completed many past Williamson County projects including Lakeline Boulevard Right Turn Lanes and Neenah Avenue Widening. Based on the previous quality of work done for Williamson County, we concur with the Design Engineer’s (Jones Carter) Recommendation of Award for the CR 200 Reconstruction contract to MA Smith Contracting Co Inc. in the amount of $4,975,515.09. Department Point of Contact is Whit (John) Friend of HNTB.
