Discuss, consider and take appropriate action regarding the appointment of Matthew Lindemann to serve as Williamson County Constable Precinct No. 3, thereby filling the vacancy created by the passing of Constable Kevin Stofle (Deceased), with such appointment being effective as of October 5, 2021 and continuing thereafter until the next general election pursuant to Loc. Gov’t Code Sec. 87.041; and to approve an oath of office and a bond executed in the amount of $1,500.00.
Background
The Constable Pct. 3 office is one of the busiest constable offices in Williamson County with a large workload. With the sudden passing of Constable Kevin Stofle, it is imperative to appoint a highly qualified law enforcement official expeditiously to keep the operations in the Constable Pct. 3 office consistent.
Matthew Lindemann is a 36-year veteran law enforcement officer. He was born and raised in Williamson County in the small community of Bartlett. After high school, Lindemann attended the Central Texas Regional Police Academy in Killeen. Upon graduation, he was hired as a jailer at the Williamson County Jail. After his time as a jailer, Lindemann was hired as a deputy sheriff.
In 1990, he was accepted to the Texas Department of Public Safety Recruit School, where he graduated seventh out of a class of one hundred. He was assigned as a State Trooper in Cedar Park, TX.
In 1997, he was promoted to Sergeant in the Texas Ranger Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
In 1999, Lindemann was assigned to Gov. George W. Bush's protective detail during his nationwide presidential campaign.
In 2012, he co-created the Robbery Investigators of Texas (RIOT).
In 2015, Lindemann became the first line supervisor for the Texas Ranger Public Integrity Unit, where he responded to the fertilizer explosion in West, TX and was one of the on-scene commanders during the investigation into the tragic church shooting in Southerland Springs.
He has served as a Sergeant Investigator for the Williamson County District Attorney's office since March 2019.
These are highlights to an impressive resume that is attached.
