Agenda Item
Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action to approve the salary for a vacant ARPA grant funded Prosecutor II position in the District Attorney’s Office in excess of 15% above the minimum of the B-37 Grade.
Background
On June 15, 2021, the Commissioners Court approved funding three felony prosecutor positions with ARPA Funds. The District Attorney made three external hires at the approved salary of not more than $95,566.70.
In October 2021, one of the ARPA Prosecutor II positions became vacant when the employee moved to a new Prosecutor position approved in the budget. The District Attorney posted the vacant position on the Williamson County website and on the Texas District and County Attorneys Association (TDCAA) Website.
The vacancy has been advertised at TDCAA from September 17, 2021 until November 4, 2021. No applications were received in response to the TDCAA posting.
The vacancy has been advertised on the Williamson County website since October 27, 2021. Only five applications meeting the minimum requirements have been received. Two candidates who were interviewed and offered the position declined due to the salary amount.
The District Attorney has identified a candidate who meets the qualifications and expectations of the position and will accept the position for a salary of $110,000.
This request has been vetted with Human Resources and the Auditor’s Office. The Auditor has confirmed that there are sufficient budget funds for this request.
