Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on approving agreement #2023116 for pre-employment background screening services with Nora Maxey in the total not-to-exceed amount of $7,500.00 and exempting this agreement from the competitive bid/proposal requirements of the County Purchasing Act pursuant to the discretionary exemption for personal or professional services, as set forth under Texas Local Government Code § 262.024(a)(4), and authorizing execution of the agreements.

Approval of this item will support the Sheriff's Office by providing pre-employment background screening services.  Background screener will be compensated at a rate of $30 an hour with a not-to-exceed amount of $7,500.00 per fiscal year.  The work being performed requires accessing the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement website.  This is restricted to those individuals that have been authorized and issued a personal identification number (PID#) from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.  This website contains confidential and restricted information. Agreement will cover an initial period through September 30th, 2023 with the option to extend for up to two (2) additional twelve (12) month periods.  Legal, contract audit and budget have reviewed this purchase.  This expenditure will be charged to 01.0100.0560.004100 as per FY23 budget.  Department contact is Chief James Carmona.
