Information
Agenda Item
Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action on the issuance of a county-wide burn ban for a period not to exceed 90 days and to authorize the County Judge the authority to lift the order banning outdoor burning if conditions improve.
Background
The current conditions in Williamson County are: Average KBDI value of 568 (Scale of 1-800) with portions of the County experiencing a high value of 617. Currently, 100% of Williamson County is classified by the U.S. Drought Monitor Scale as D2 "severe drought", and there is minimum forecasted rain that could deliver adequate amounts to reverse the drying trend. The combination of above average temperatures, heated winds and lower daytime relative humidity values are creating a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning.
