Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on the 2023-2024 salary for the County Auditor in the amount of $185,709.37.
Background
Sec 152.032 of the Texas Local Government Code requires Commissioners Court approval of the County Auditor's salary should it exceed the "highest paid elected county officer". Currently, the highest paid county officer for FY24 is the County Attorney at $176,587.05. The FY24 (County Auditor) salary was set by the District Court Judges during the Auditor's Office annual budget hearing on Thursday, August 17, 2023 which is a 4% increase over current salary. Funding is already included in the proposed FY24 budget as presented to the court by the Budget Office.
