Background

Line item 0100.0453.001107 (Temp Labor-Seasonal Help) has experienced a deficit in the current fiscal year due to unanticipated workload increases and special projects that exceeded initial staffing projections. Key contributing factors include: digitizing death inquest files by scanning and organizing inquest files as part of a digitization initiative aimed at improving records access and preservation; verifying the accuracy and completeness of scanned citations for accurate case management; entering citations due to increased volume of citations requiring timely data entry into Odyssey, necessitating the use of temporary personnel to avoid processing delays and maintain data accuracy.

These activities were critical in maintaining operational efficiency, but they resulted in expenditures beyond the amount originally allocated for temporary staffing. Staff is requesting approval for this transfer to resolve the deficit and support ongoing department operations. This transfer reallocates existing funds to address a shortfall in a specific line item necessary to meet operational needs.
