Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on an agreement with Bluebonnet Trails Community MHMR Center, (DBA) Bluebonnet Trails Community Services (BTCS) for Child Welfare Court Case Coordinators to assist in coordinating court-ordered treatment required by courts in CPS cases.
Public Background
Bluebonnet Trails Community Services (BTCS) participates in the System Improvement Workgroup in Williamson County, which focuses on supporting children and youth who have complex needs. This working group has researched ways to improve efficiencies in CPS cases that were often made more difficult by the high turnover rate in CPS case workers. One of the suggestions of the group was for Child Welfare Court Care Coordinators to be hired to work with families involved in CPS cases, the County Attorney's Office, judges, attorneys, CASA, CPS caseworkers with the Department of Family Protective Services (DFPS) and other involved agencies or community stakeholders. The Child Welfare Court Care Coordinator helps ensure the completion of judicial court order requirements are met, by helping coordinate families with services and resources. This often helps avoid the need to reset a case and helps the case move more efficiently through the judicial process. The agreement has been reviewed by Legal and the County Auditor's Office.
