Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on a line item transfer for Facilities.
Background
- Age of Current Unit: 12 years old
- Average life: 15 to 20 years
- This chiller has had multiple leaks in the main condenser coils that have been patched to the point that it needs new coils. The expansion valve has to be replaced. Two of the compressors have had to be replaced and four of the other twelve year old compressors are going to need replacement soon. We have had multiple service reps and manufacturer reps look at it and all offered that we need to replace it since putting more money in this one would cost more in time due to the age of the unit. We have had our techs spending much of their time to keep it going over the last couple of months and have gotten to the point where it will no longer operate without basically re-building the chiller. We are currently leasing a portable chiller for $5k / month with a $5k set up and delivery fee.
