Discuss, consider and take appropriate action regarding the granting of service tenure and increasing budget salary amounts for Con#1254.001105 an PCI#1399.001105 the Sheriff's Office.
Background
The Sheriff's Office is requesting a salary increase for Pcn#1254.001105 based on Compensation Personnel Policy "Promotion (Corrections to Law Enforcement)" page 28 and "Prior Service Credit" page 29. Deputy was hired on November 27, 2017 in Corrections then transferred to L.E. Bureau on February 9, 2018 at a C2.1. He was eligible on February 22, 2019 to receive Prior Service Credit to step L1.4 for his service with another law enforcement agency. Deputy was informed in the hiring process that after 1 year can receive the increase in pay however during budget process, the pay rate was inadvertently submitted incorrectly for this position number for FY'19.
For the Sergeant promotion, the Sheriff's Office is requesting a salary increase for Pcn#1399.001105 based on Compensation Personnel Policy page 28 "Promotion (with exception of Corrections to Law Enforcement): When an employee is promoted to a higher ranking position, the tenured grade is based on years of service." The deputy will be moving from L1.12 to L3.12 however previous Sergeant was at L3.11 a difference of $1,488.31.
The Sheriff's Office respectfully request that Pcn#1258.001105 salary budget amount be reduced by $3,685.50 in order to accommodate increasing the salary budget amounts of Pcn#1399.001105 and Pcn#1254.001105 for the promotional and prior service credit funding.
